The opening of Europe's first electric motorcycle taxi company

Europe's first electric motorcycle taxi company, Hopper, was opened on Monday in the capital of the Netherlands, and its hundreds of electric motorcycles become the part of the city center traffic of Amsterdam today.

These bikes are only used in the center of Amsterdam, charged at average fee of € 2.5, with maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour and up to 130 kilometers in fully charged.

The 17th Century's canals and cobbled streets of Amsterdam make driving in the city very difficult and time consuming, so many people living in Amsterdam are more willing to ride a bike in the city.

Dutch public transportation is usually regarded reliability and efficiency, but there aren't these services including trams, trains and buses  in the oldest part of Amsterdam city center. Ruben Beugels, the founder of Hopper thinks that these places will become the company's market.

These electric motorcycles are high-tech, with TomTo navigation and tracking system, a Samsung (microblogging) smartphone, and a Tablet PC installed in the rear part of the bike for playback of digital advertising.

Beugel predicts that these electric motorcycles would become a part of Amsterdam city life and hopes the service would be launched in  Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht next year.
